About Agility
About Dog Agility & Our Classes….
What is Agility?
-Agility is a fun sport that the handler and dog communicate together and the dog navigates obstacles. There are many different types of obstacles the dog can learn to perform correctly and safely - jumps, tunnels, A-frame, hoops, Teeter, Dog Walk, weave poles, barrels and more.
There are different organizations that you can compete in agility with and there are even World Competitions in which dog/handler teams from around the world compete against each other.
Classes at Prairie Dawgs…
-Our aim at Prairie Dawgs is to teach anyone how to communicate with their dog so the dog can learn how to perform the various obstacles. This is a FUN activity to do with your dog and our classes are positive, encouraging and friendly!
-Many different breeds/mixes of dogs can successfully learn agility. This is an activity that can especially help dogs that are nervous/scared and they gain confidence. Also for dogs that have a lot of energy and need a physical/mental outlet and something to do!
-Dogs should be 6 months old before attending our classes.
